Raise the bar in your home kitchen with one of our fine Chopping Boards

Where craftsmanship meets functionality for serious home cooks.

Handcrafted chopping boards made to the best quality.

Wooden chopping boards are both beautiful and functional additions to any serious home cooks kitchen. Compared to plastic varieties, wood chopping boards are gentler on your knives, more durable (with regular maintenance), more sturdy and just much more visually appealing. Contrary to many prevailing myths, wooden chopping boards are far better at ensuring nasty bacteria is kept away from your food.

STEP ONE

Choose a style

Face grain, single piece

Some people say simplicity is king and these chopping boards take that principle to heart. These are made out of a single board and you can get some really unique natural patterns and sometimes even a live edge.

Edge grain

These visually striking boards have long thin pieces of timber that can be arranged in many different ways. The best part is that these boards are resistant to the warping that can sometimes occur to single piece boards.

End grain

There’s a reason why most chefs choose end grain boards. The grain directions reduces visible cut marks and is the best option for preserving your knives. Many butchers blocks are end grain and can last a very long time with proper care and maintenance.

STEP TWO

Choose your timber

We have access to a range of local and imported hardwood timbers. The timbers you select will give your chopping board its own personality and flare. We can definitely offer suggestions and recommendations.

Most of our customers lean towards the following options:

American Species: Maple, White Ash, Cherry

Australian Species: Blackbutt, Blackwood, Jarrah, Ironbark, Merbau, Redgum, Silky Oak

*Please note – Subject to availability with our suppliers.

STEP THREE

Select your size

Most of our customers will choose boards ranging in size from 20x30cm all the way up to 30x50cm, however we can make boards of any size. We can make boards as thin as 20mm however recommend starting with a thickness of 30mm to enable stability and durability. The bigger the board, the longer it will last you.

STEP FOUR

Select your finish

Raw finish

We also offer the option for Face Grain boards to leave it raw and without a finish as recommended by Dr Seri Robinson the book ‘living with wood’. Dr Robinson also runs the Facebook group ‘Wood Education and Safety’ and advocates for a board that is left raw.

Mineral oil

Most of the boards we sell will have a mineral oil finish as mineral oil has been conventionally used on cutting boards for many decades.
